We are in the process of appealing to Maine’s Public Safety Commissioner and have sought permission from the Maine Superior Court to continue operating under our existing license. We hope to receive a decision early next week.”
Legal Restrictions on Sports Betting in Maine
Milton Champion, the regulatory boss, clarified that current laws in Maine only allow sports betting at licensed commercial track facilities. This restriction has not only impacted Oddfellahs’ operations during the lucrative Super Bowl season but has also left customers with pending wagers in a difficult position.
Mike Cianchette, the owner of Oddfellahs, remains optimistic that the venue will be able to resume operations soon. He emphasized the sportsbook’s commitment to its customers, especially those who had placed bets before the license expiration dates in January.
