Presque Isle Downs & Casino Fined Over $80K for Slot Machine and Licensing Violations
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) recently imposed a hefty fine of $81,575 on Presque Isle Downs & Casino for violating regulations. The decision was made during a meeting held on February 26, where the casino faced penalties for failing to keep a sufficient number of slot machines operational and delaying the submission of a required license application.
Managed by PID LLC, Presque Isle Downs & Casino was fined $50,000 for not maintaining an adequate number of slot machines on their gaming floor. Additionally, they were penalized $31,575 for the delayed submission of a Principal License application. These infractions were identified by the PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel, responsible for monitoring compliance with gaming laws in Pennsylvania.
Involuntary Exclusion List Updates and Penalties
Aside from monetary fines, the PGCB also addressed its Involuntary Exclusion List during the meeting. Nine individuals were either added to the list or had their appeals for removal denied. Inclusion on this list prohibits individuals from entering any casino in the state, utilizing regulated online gambling platforms, or accessing video gaming terminals (VGTs) in Pennsylvania.
Two men were recently added to the exclusion list after abandoning children while gambling at casinos. One man left a five-year-old child unattended in a car at Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s valet parking for 12 minutes to handle financial matters inside. Another man abandoned a 10-year-old child in a car at Wind Creek Casino’s parking garage in Bethlehem for 45 minutes while playing slots, despite hot weather conditions.
The PGCB rejected a woman’s appeal for removal from the exclusion list after she left her three children aged 10, 14, and 15 in a car at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course for approximately two hours while engaging in gaming activities.
Public Awareness Campaign and Future Meetings
PGCB officials emphasized the dangers of leaving children unattended in casino parking areas or facilities. To address this issue, the board initiated the “Don’t Gamble with Kids” awareness campaign to educate visitors about the potential risks and legal consequences associated with such actions.
The PGCB’s upcoming meeting is scheduled for March 26, 2025, to be held in the board’s Public Hearing Room in Harrisburg. The continued enforcement of regulations and prioritizing public safety remain crucial aspects of the PGCB’s oversight in Pennsylvania’s gaming industry.
