PGCB Imposes Fines on Three Operators for Online Gambling Violations
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) recently announced that it has imposed fines totaling $282,205 on three gaming operators for violations related to online gambling. Additionally, the board has placed several individuals on its involuntary self-exclusion list, highlighting the importance of responsible gambling practices in the state.
BetMGM Faces Major Penalty
Among the three operators fined, BetMGM received the largest penalty of $260,905 for multiple instances of allowing self-excluded individuals to gamble online. This serious violation of the state’s gambling laws led to the hefty fine imposed by the PGCB.
The PGCB revealed that there were 152 documented cases where self-excluded individuals were able to access online gambling platforms, underscoring the need for operators to adhere strictly to regulations to prevent such incidents.
Other Fines and Violations
Rush Street Gaming and Stadium Casino Westmoreland were also fined by the PGCB for smaller violations. Rush Street Gaming faced penalties for failing to file a principal license renewal application for its chief financial officer, resulting in a $13,800 fine. On the other hand, Stadium Casino Westmoreland was fined $7,500 for using revoked software on 11 of its slot machines.
Involuntary Self-Exclusion List Expanded
Aside from issuing fines, the PGCB added nine individuals to its involuntary self-exclusion list, including four adults who left minors unattended while gambling at local properties. Such actions are strictly prohibited, and the PGCB has reinforced its commitment to enforcing responsible gambling practices in the state.
Notably, one male casino patron was cited for leaving a 12-year-old unattended in a vehicle at Live! Casino Philadelphia, while an adult woman was banned for leaving a child unattended in the bus lobby of Mount Airy Casino Resort. These incidents highlight the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of minors in gambling environments.
Reminder on Responsible Gambling
The PGCB emphasized that leaving minors unattended is a serious offense that can result in inclusion on the involuntary self-exclusion list. With 1,280 individuals already on the list for casino gambling and 62 for iGaming, the board remains vigilant in enforcing regulations to protect vulnerable individuals in the gambling community.
