Marmorato criticized Bally’s and its lobbyists for allegedly bypassing local concerns and diminishing community input in the process.

The land in question is currently designated as public parkland, requiring the state to pass a “parkland alienation” bill to authorize any construction. The resolution passed by the City Council now permits state lawmakers to explore such legislation before the end of their session later this month.
Concerns have also been raised regarding Bally’s acquisition of the Ferry Point golf course from the Trump Organization in 2023. If Bally’s secures a casino license, the Trump Organization stands to gain an additional $115 million through the deal. Despite this connection, the mayor’s office emphasized the importance of ensuring fair opportunities for all casino applicants.
