The Oakland Athletics, a well-known Major League Baseball (MLB) team, is making significant progress towards relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 2028 season. The team recently filed a land use permit, revealing exciting details about the new ballpark that will become their future home.

In October, the Athletics submitted the necessary documents to the county for the construction of their new stadium. Then, in December, the Las Vegas Stadium Authority approved the construction of the ballpark on the site of the Tropicana.
According to KTNV, the Athletics took another step forward by filing the required permit for land use with Clark County. The application included renderings of the ballpark, which is expected to have a seating capacity of 33,000.
$2 Billion Project with Exciting Features
The new ballpark project comes with a staggering price tag of nearly $2 billion. The site spans 35 acres, with the ballpark occupying around 9 acres. Additionally, Bally’s Corporation will utilize 14.7 acres for a new luxury hotel and casino resort. The remaining space will be allocated for parking, restaurants, bars, and other amenities.
The development will also feature a new hotel and casino resort by Bally’s Corporation, offering luxurious accommodations, a 90,000 square feet casino, various dining options, and retail outlets. Construction of the resort is set to align with phase one of the ballpark development. Once completed, the casino will boast 75 table games, a sportsbook, a poker room, and 1,500 slot machines, accommodating over 3,000 hotel rooms for MLB fans and visitors to Las Vegas.
Addressing Parking Concerns
One of the main concerns surrounding the new ballpark is the impact on traffic and the availability of parking spaces. County regulations stipulate the need for one parking space per four seats, requiring over 7,000 spaces based on the ballpark’s capacity. However, the recent permit request includes nearly 2,500 parking spaces, encompassing guest and staff parking. Developers believe this number is adequate, given the proximity of the ballpark to other resorts and transportation options.
